Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Foreman to lead our manufacturing team, specialising in cabinet-making, bespoke exhibition builds, and commercial joinery. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing people management with technical oversight — driving performance, quality, and efficiency across workshop operations.
You'll be responsible for achieving key production targets, maintaining labour budgets and hours, and continuously improving workflows and team productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Leadership & Team Management
• Lead, motivate, and mentor cabinet makers, installers, and apprentices.
• Allocate daily tasks, set priorities, and manage workflow to meet project timelines.
• Support team development and foster a positive, safety-conscious workplace culture.
Production & Project Delivery
• Oversee the manufacture and assembly of bespoke exhibition components and commercial joinery.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and client requirements accurately.
• Monitor project progress, ensuring work is completed within time and budget targets.
• Maintain high quality standards across all stages of production.
Performance & Efficiency
• Track and report on key KPIs such as productivity, quality, and rework reduction.
• Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Work closely with the Production Manager and Project Management team to ensure alignment on scheduling and resourcing.
Safety & Compliance
• Uphold WHS policies and ensure safe work practices at all times.
• Conduct toolbox meetings and promote safety awareness across the team.
Skills & Experience Required
• Proven experience as a Foreman, Leading Hand, or Senior Cabinet Maker within exhibitions, shopfitting, or commercial joinery.
• Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
• Strong understanding of custom manufacturing, joinery construction, and bespoke detailing.
• Minimum 5-8 years of joinery or cabinet making experience is required.
• Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and production documentation.
• Demonstrated success managing workshop teams and project hours within set budgets.
• Practical understanding of manufacturing workflows and process optimisation.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to be hands-on when required.
• Manual driver's license.
• Australian work rights are essential for this position.
Desirable Attributes
• Trade qualification in Cabinet Making, Shopfitting.
• Experience within exhibition or event build environments (preferred but not essential).
• Familiarity with CNC machinery, panel saws, and other workshop equipment.
• Strong collaboration skills across production, design, and project management teams.
