The role contributes to the success of First Nations teacher education programs by assisting with the smooth delivery of Hub activities, helping First Nations students engage in their studies, and supporting the cultural integrity of Hub operations.

About the Position
As the First Nations Hub Support Assistant, you will provide vital administrative and student support to the First Nation Teacher Education Hub team, working closely with the Project Officer and First Nations Academic Support Officer. This position is designed as an early career development role for a First Nations person with an education background, seeking to build their skills and confidence in university systems, student services, event coordination, and culturally responsive support.

About You
To be successful, you will require:

• Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. (This is an Affirmative Measures role under the Equal Opportunity Act.)

• Demonstrated experience or background in education, training or community development, especially in working with First Nations learners.

• Willingness to learn administrative and student support processes, with developing skills in time management, communication, and organisation.

• Ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with others, including academic staff, students, and community members.

• Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner.

• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel), or willingness to learn.

• Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information in a culturally appropriate and respectful way.

• Willingness to participate in on-the-job training and professional development, including learning CDU systems and processes.

• An understanding of and experience working with First Nations people, students and NT remote communities.

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Professional Level 3. The base salary will be $67,227 per annum. The total remuneration package will be $78, 655 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
