The Role
With the expansion of our business, OnSpec are seeking experienced ESP operators to safely and competently complete the installation, testing, and commissioning of our ESP systems.
This position will be hands on, based out of Chinchilla and includes some workshop servicing but primarily field work (Surat and other basins).
Enjoy a lifestyle roster of 15 days on - 13 days off.
Responsibilities will include:
- Install, test, and commission ESP systems, including pumps, motors, and surface controls
- Perform maintenance and repair activities, including motor overhauls, pump rebuilds, and cable deployment
- Troubleshoot and diagnose ESP performance issues and failures
- Optimise operating parameters to improve system efficiency and production outcomes
- Conduct field inspections, preventative maintenance, and performance monitoring
- Support and mentor junior technicians and field personnel
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repair, and testing activities
- Ensure all work complies with company safety standards and industry regulations (API, ISO)
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the ESP program
The ideal candidates will have
- Minimum 10 years' experience in ESP installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in the oil and gas industry
- Strong knowledge of ESP design, control systems, and diagnostics
- Hands-on experience with ESP software and performance optimisation tools
- Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude with strong fault-finding ability
- Familiarity with Australian safety and regulatory standards
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Relevant trade qualification or diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering (or similar)
- Ability to work independently in remote field environments
- Unrestricted drivers licence (essential)
