About the Role:

As the Head of Risk, you will lead the review, design and implementation of Sundale's Enterprise Risk Management Framework, ensuring risk is embedded in strategic planning, operations, and decision-making.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll work closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Board, and external stakeholders to provide strategic risk insights and help build a proactive, forward-thinking risk culture throughout Sundale.

In this position, you will partner with internal teams to strengthen risk management practices whilst working across a broad range of operational risk, legal, compliance and audit matters. This position will require you to apply commercial acumen and critical analysis of the legislative landscape with translation into plain language for effective decision making to ensure the future sustainability of Sundale.

What You'll Do:

  • Advise the Board and ELT on strategic, operational, and emerging risks and opportunities – including the legislative environment.
  • Champion risk-informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Lead internal controls, assurance programs, and compliance systems.
  • Oversee business continuity and resilience frameworks.
  • Govern incident, feedback, and complaints systems to identify systemic risks.
  • Represent Sundale in external forums and build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Coach and mentor teams to embed a proactive risk culture.
  • Develop Executive Team, Board and Committee papers relating to Risk matters requiring review or endorsement.
  • Ensure compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Application of your strong understanding of risk management frameworks, methodologies and controls, particularly in a transformational change environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Senior leadership experience in enterprise risk roles within complex, regulated environments.
  • Expertise in developing and embedding enterprise risk frameworks, governance, and compliance practices to build a strong risk culture.
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder influence to build trust and strong working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement risk controls, assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in risk reporting, governance forums and risk monitoring.
  • Ability to work at pace and within periods of ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated experience in the analysis of legislative landscape to provide advice to inform business decisions and requirements,
  • Resilience, integrity, and a passion for driving meaningful outcomes.
  • A curious mindset to critically analyse business requirements, operating landscape and interdependencies for continuous improvement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex issues clearly and draft reports within deadlines

Essential Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Risk, Law, Business, Commerce, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Professional membership (e.g., RMIA, GIA, AICD) highly desirable.
  • Relevant risk certifications (preferred).
  • Police Check
  • Pre-employment medical assessment
