- Opportunity for a Community Engagement Officer to join the SNOW team
This role will support the Snow Centre for Immune Health's objectives in the development and implementation of the Centre's consumer engagement strategy to deliver on the Centre's translational goals.
The Snow Centre for Immune Health brings together top-tier researchers in immune disease, clinicians, and partner organizations. Funded by an initial $100 million commitment over 10 years, this partnership between WEHI and the Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of the largest philanthropic efforts in Australian history.
The Centre will transform immune system research, diagnostics, and treatments through integrated research and clinical practices, and key to it, is a longitudinal study of patients and volunteers. You will foster strong relationships with patients, carers, consumer advocacy groups and external organisations to guide research design from inception through to clinical translation
Your new role:
- Foster and nurture relationships with study participants for ongoing engagement in the Centre's longitudinal study
- Build relationships with relevant community organisations to facilitate consultation, engagement and co-design in relevant aspects of the program
- Develop a framework and planning tools for community engagement, guided by best practice, WEHI Consumer Program and RMH Community Engagement Strategy: In this Together.
- Support consumers to participate in program activities, including by providing appropriate inductions, training and debriefing; ensuring accessibility; and sharing the outcomes of their contribution
- Lead project teams to develop, implement and evaluate appropriate community engagement plans
- Coordinate project-specific consumer panels as needed, including the provision of honorariums
- Contribute to measurement, evaluation and learning activities, including collecting data on community engagement
About you:
- Experienced and enthusiastic individual with expertise in community engagement in the clinical research sector.
- Keen to join and help build the Centre's relationships with patients, carers and advocacy groups to meet its translational objectives
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
