Local Buy (part of Peak Services) is seeking an experienced and strategic Manager – Procurement to lead our high-performing team responsible for establishing and managing Local Buy's arrangements and providing specialised category support to internal and external stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and continuously improve Local Buy's procurement operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and innovation across our arrangements.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead & Inspire: Manage, coach and support a team of procurement professionals to deliver on KPIs and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Shape Procurement Strategy: Develop and deliver strategic procurement and category plans, informed by data, market insights and stakeholder needs.
  • Deliver Best Practice Operations: Oversee procurement processes, ensuring arrangements meet legal, ethical and compliance standards.
  • Engage Stakeholders: Partner with councils, suppliers, and senior stakeholders to strengthen relationships and deliver tailored procurement solutions.
  • Drive Improvement: Champion innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Local Buy's product offerings, efficiency and reporting.
  • Manage Performance: Monitor arrangements, budgets and forecasts while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead Projects: Oversee initiatives that improve operations, enhance Local Buy arrangements, and explore new business opportunities.

What you'll bring:

  • Procurement expertise: 5+ years' experience in procurement, category management or a related field (public sector/local government experience highly regarded).
  • Leadership capability: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, driving collaboration and performance.
  • Strategic mindset: Experience developing and executing category strategies that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Technical skills: Strong data analytics and reporting capability (Excel, Power BI, Tableau or similar).
  • Stakeholder engagement: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Commercial acumen: Understanding of procurement's role in driving growth, efficiency, and value for stakeholders.
  • Presentation skills: Confidence in delivering workshops and presentations that showcase strategic insights and value.
