About Strong Women Talking (SWT)
Strong Women Talking is a proudly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led organisation dedicated to creating safe spaces for women to heal from family and domestic violence. Grounded in truth-telling, culture, and community, SWT empowers women to live free from violence and harm while honouring self-determination and resilience.
About the Role
Do you have the strength, compassion, and cultural wisdom to walk with our women on their healing journeys?
Strong Women Talking exists to prevent gendered violence through culturally grounded education, empowerment, and healing. We walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women as they reclaim their voices and break the cycles of violence.
We're looking for a First Nations Tidda to join us as a Case Manager — someone who can offer trauma-informed, culturally safe support to First Nations women navigating crisis, rebuilding safety, and finding healing.
About the Role
You'll be part of our frontline Program Team, working closely with women and families impacted by domestic and family violence. Your work will include:
- Providing culturally safe case management and brief counselling
- Supporting referrals to housing, health, legal, and social services
- Facilitating group healing sessions and yarning circles
- Developing individual care plans grounded in self-determination and cultural protocols
- Participating in community engagement, interagency networks, and cultural supervision
- Advocating for women with respect, dignity, and cultural understanding
What We're Looking For
- Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander woman
- Experience in case work, healing work, advocacy, or community support roles
- A deep understanding of the impacts of colonisation, trauma, and cultural displacement
- Strong communicator with the ability to build trust and walk with women at their pace
- Lived experience, cultural knowledge, and a commitment to healing and community
What We Offer
- Full-time flexibility (school hours, job share, or additional income support welcome)
- A trauma-informed, culturally safe women's workplace
- Ongoing yarning supervision and cultural mentorship
- Salary packaging and award-based remuneration (SCHADS 3–4)
- A community of women who lead with heart and walk with purpose
Identified Role
This position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women under:
- Section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth)
- Sections 25, 104, and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991
Strong Women Talking operates within the scope of these affirmative measures to ensure cultural authority, safety, and lived experience remain central to our work.
