Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

  • Newly funded Full-time (1EFT/80hours) with flexible ADO to December 2027

  • Social Worker / Occupational Therapist / Psychologist Grade 2 or 3 depending on experience
  • Fluent in both English and a second language (preferably Mandarin)

About us

headspace offers a 'one stop shop' for young people aged and their families who may be experiencing mental health challenges. Providing an opportunity for young people to receive help early and promote a 'no wrong door' approach to supporting young people and their families through the provision of GPs, counsellors, Alcohol & other Drug workers and Vocational and Educational support.

Alfred Health is the lead agency for this program and offers the opportunity to work in a growing dynamic healthcare environment.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will act as a CALD clinical liaison to improve and increase the local CALD community's access and engagement with headspace Syndal. You will work as a member of the Access team to deliver a range of tasks towards this goal, including providing tailored intake services both in-centre and outreach, offering single session therapy to CALD community, and providing psychoeducation webinars/seminar for parents and students to build mental health literacy to reduce stigma and normalise mental health support within CALD communities.

The outreach role will collaborate with external stakeholders (e.g. international student coordinators) to ensure international students, often isolated from mental health resources and burdened with stigma and visa concerns, have clear, accessible pathways to support.

About you

  • Approved tertiary qualifications and eligibility for membership with the relevant professional registering body (Occupational Therapy Board / Psychology Board via AHPRA, or eligible with AASW)
  • Extensive skill and experience in engagement and assessment of CALD adolescents and young people and their families including capacity to provide flexible outreach
  • Demonstrated competence in the provision of a full range of mental health services including: individual, family and group, treatments for adolescents and young adults presenting with a range of behavioural, emotional, social or developmental issues, including alcohol and other drug issues
  • Australian working rights and a current Victorian Driver's License
  • 2025 Influenza vaccination
  • Current Working with Children Check and be willing to undergo a Background Check
