The Team:

The Graduate Allied Health position is based in Ulverstone NW Tasmania.

The team consists of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Medical Officers, Social Workers, Nurses, and consultation processes with Lived experienced advocates. We work closely with the statewide alcohol and/or otter drugs (AOD) offices in Launceston and Hobart. Delivering excellence in health care to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

The Alcohol and Drug Counsellor - Graduate position is designed for a university graduate who has successfully completed a University Degree in Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Social Work within the last 1-3 years.

The individual will be:

  • Trained in all areas of the relevant multidisciplinary Alcohol and Other Drugs service.
  • Expected to gain sufficient competency to be able to work independently as a member of the Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS).
  • Guided to deliver a high-quality alcohol and other drug treatment service in accordance with relevant Government Legislation and Regulations, Primary Health Care Principles, ADS policies, procedures and protocols and relevant professional competencies.

The occupant will be trained in all areas of service provided by ADS. Level of supervision received is dependent on the level of experience attained and the ability of the individual to demonstrate sound professional judgement.

Responsible for being aware of, and working within, all Department of Health (DoH) and ADS policies, procedures and protocols and legislation affecting the duties of this position.

Comply at all times with policy and protocol requirements, including those relating to mandatory education, training and assessment.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker working 76 hours per fortnight, for 2 years.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $73,834 to $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance withAllied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging:

You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances:

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Board of Australia and Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or
  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia and Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia; or
  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and is a full member of AASW or is eligible for membership with the AASW
  • Current Working with Children Registration
