About The Role
As an Assistant Finance & Assurance Officer, you will work within a collaborative team to manage core financial systems, support claims processing, and ensure the integrity of expenditure related to disaster recovery and Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

Your responsibilities will include preparing payments, auditing reimbursement claims, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders on financial matters. This role plays a critical part in strengthening assurance and governance processes to support the State's Disaster Relief Account and its alignment with state and federal requirements.

About You
You'll be a conscientious, analytical team player with:

  • Familiarity with financial systems and general ledger and payment processes within controlled environments.
  • Ability to support audit processes and assess reimbursement claims against defined eligibility criteria.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with government agencies and internal teams.
  • Skills in project support and basic project management to meet reporting and operational deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach and a commitment to improving systems and processes that deliver real-world outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
