Irrigation Supervisor

As the Irrigation Supervisor, you will play a key role in implementing and maintaining irrigation and fertigation systems that support optimal crop growth across the Orana Olive Grove. This hands-on role is critical to the health and productivity of the orchard, requiring technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and a collaborative attitude.

Horticulture or agriculture industry experience is preferred for this position.

You will primarily be based at the Orana Olive Grove in Borung, Victoria, with travel as required in the course of your duties. Ordinary business hours apply, along with any reasonable additional hours necessary to fulfill your responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Irrigation & Fertigation

• Assist in the planning and implementation of the irrigation and fertigation programs, including system layout and scheduling for optimal tree health.
• Monitor soil moisture levels throughout the grove, report weekly in an agreed format.
• Ensure crops are not subjected to water stress due to inadequate soil moisture.
• Manage and oversee the fertigation schedule to deliver the right nutrients at the right time.
• Read and record water meter readings monthly and report total water usage.
• Check the irrigation system daily for leaks or faults and act promptly.

Maintenance & System Management

• Assist in the development and execution of a preventative maintenance program for all irrigation infrastructure.
• Conduct timely repairs of any irrigation system faults.
• Maintain accurate records of system changes and update as-built system drawings as needed.
• Support data entry and recordkeeping in AgWorld.
• Manage irrigation parts inventory to ensure critical components are available when needed.

Teamwork & Training

• Work collaboratively with farm staff to maintain a respectful and productive work environment.
• Train maintenance staff in irrigation system operation and processes.
• Demonstrate and promote a strong work ethic and safety-conscious attitude.

Equipment & Technology

• Operate general farm equipment as required.
• Maintain and service mechanical and 12 volt electrical irrigation components.
• Basic mechanical repair and maintenance skills are required for this position.
• Use and interpret data from irrigation and environmental control systems.

Workplace Health & Safety

• Ensure strict compliance with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) systems, procedures, and policies at all times.
