Barnardos Australia is seeking a dedicated child care worker to join our Early Learning centre in Ultimo, 2007. This is a full time, permanent opportunity to be part of a values-led organisation committed to making a real difference in the lives of children and families.

Salary $76,515 base plus super

As an Early Childhood worker, you'll use your leadership skills to inspire your team and support high-quality learning experiences, guided by our philosophy and the National Quality Framework. 

• Developing strong relationships with children, fostering a sense of belonging and trust.
• Establishing and maintaining positive partnerships with families, providing regular updates and support to ensure a collaborative approach to the child's development.
• Implementing and upholding the organisation's policies, procedures, and practices, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.
• Collaborating with colleagues to drive continuous improvement across all aspects of the service's operations.
• Supporting the team to deliver high-quality early childhood education and care that aligns with contemporary practices and research-based approaches.
• Maintaining compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law, associated regulations, and the National Quality Standard for Early Education and Care.
• Working ethically and professionally in accordance with the sector's Code of Ethics.
• Upholding the service's philosophy and values while performing all duties. Supporting the implementation of creative and evidence-based learning practices that enhance children's experiences.
• Assisting in the preparation and delivery of engaging learning activities that promote physical, emotional, and cognitive development through play and exploration.
• Ensuring the active supervision of children at all times to maintain their safety and well-being. Managing children's behavior effectively by applying a range of positive guidance techniques to support their learning and emotional regulation.
• Assisting in the implementation of daily routines, using these opportunities as teachable moments to enrich learning experiences.
• Providing care for children, including feeding, assisting with dressing, and promoting hygiene practices as part of their daily routine.
• Preparing and supervising mealtime activities, encouraging healthy eating habits and fostering social skills. Supporting and assisting children with special needs by adapting activities and environments to accommodate their individual requirements.
• Observing and documenting children's development, behavior, and learning progress to contribute to tailored educational planning.
• Maintaining and organising the aesthetics of the learning environment, ensuring that toys, equipment, and materials are safe, clean, and readily available.
• Facilitating excursions and outdoor activities promote children's exploration and learning beyond the classroom. Ensuring compliance with child protection policies and contributing to a safe and nurturing environment for all children.
• Assisting in the development and review of programs that reflect the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and promote holistic development.

Skills and Experience :

Relevant Qualification and minimum work experience requirement (1. AQF Certificate II or III or At least one year of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications years of relevant work experience required)

Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework.

Strong Communication and inter-personal skills.

Demonstrated experience in supporting curriculum development and documenting children's learning and development.

Ability to relate effectively with children and their families.

First aid qualification that is approved by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) that includes applying first aid, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis management.
