School Nurse

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced nurse to help create a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for students. This role is central to promoting wellbeing across the school community, ensuring that students' physical, psychological, and emotional needs are met. You will play an active part in advocating for health and safety while contributing to initiatives that foster positive health outcomes.
Reporting to the Nurse Manager, you will provide assessments, treatment, and referrals for illness and injury, as well as monitor the health of students with chronic conditions. In addition to delivering direct care, you will support health education programs, encourage students to develop positive attitudes toward wellbeing, and assist with broader health initiatives that strengthen the culture of care within the school.
This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) position commencing in Term The preferred days of work are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm during the school term, however the days of work required are flexible and can be negotiated.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support to parents and carers in managing their children's identified health concerns.
- Provide a timely medical response to accidents and emergencies as required.
- Provide health education on a one-to-one basis during health centre visits.
- Undertake assessments, treatment and referral of illness and injury to students and staff in a nurturing and caring manner.
- Provide support and technical advice to staff in relation to health matters particularly during events such as Swimming and Athletics Carnivals, excursions, School camps and orientations.
- Responsible for ensuring all Health Centre equipment and medication are stored and maintained as per Legislation requirements.
About You
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Qualified Registered Nurse registered with APHRA.
- Bachelor of Nursing or other Health related degree (desirable).
- Experience in Sports Medicine (desirable).
- Experience in a similar environment or in a paediatric or accident/emergency setting.
- First Aid Certificate (or working towards certification).
- Current drivers' license.
- Hold current Working with Children Check.
- Hold a current police clearance dated within the last 6 months.
- Proof of Right to Work in Australia.
- Respect the values, traditions and Anglican ethos of the School.
