REQ Scientific Officer / Senior Technical Officer - Clinical Neurophysiology

The Role

The position is to provide service to the Clinical Neurophysiology Unit, St George Hospital, Kogarah in the day to day operations and the management of the unit.

The Clinical Neurophysiology Unit is part of the Department of Neurology, St George Hospital. The Unit provides electrophysiological services to referred outpatients, as well as inpatients, of St George Hospital. Patients of all ages are studied, with investigations performed in the Unit as well as on the wards, in the operating theatres and intensive care, if required. A full range of clinical neurophysiological diagnostic services are provided. The Unit is actively involved in both training and research.

Selection Criteria

  • Must hold a Bachelor of Medical or Health Science or such qualifications as the Health Administration Corporation deems equivalent.
  • Ability to supervise the recording of high quality electrophysiological investigations in a clinical environment with varying levels of supervision, in a manner safe for themselves and their patients.
  • Proficient in performing routine and specialised electroencephalography (EEG).
  • Proficient in performing evoked potentials (EPs): somatosensory and visual.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently as conditions require.
  • Willingness to undertake in-service or other training and acquire new skills relevant to the position.
  • Ability to work with computer-based equipment and common software packages.
