Position Summary

The Settlement, Engagement, Transition and Support (SETS) Senior Case Worker role is crucial to assisting people from new and emerging multicultural communities. The role will have responsibility for managing clients with a range of complex needs, encompassing but not limited to working with clients experiencing trauma and well-being issues, family dynamic challenges, social isolation, housing and employment issues and informing and educating clients in relation to their justice rights and responsibilities. In addition to this the Senior Case Manager will at times work directly with clients, impacted by family violence.

The role will include a combination of direct case management, warm referrals to service providers, providing guidance and support to another SETS worker, supervising student placements and taking a lead role in representing Cultura on stakeholder and network groups. The Senior Case Manager will also assist the Manager Casework Services in the development and implementation of practice standards within the team.

This position will be contracted on a permanent full time basis.

Duties
  • Undertake needs assessments with individuals
  • Undertake case plans with individuals, including supporting them to identify, and work towards, their own goals
  • Deliver short term case work, including support, information, advice and referrals
  • Provide longer term, tailored support to individuals
  • Introduce information sessions and activities in response to needs identified
  • Manage a caseload that includes allocation of clients with complex needs
  • Enter all client information, including client centred case plans, case notes, claim requests and alike into required systems
  • Identify emerging needs of individuals/communities and assist in the development of innovative programs/projects as part of the continual improvement of services
  • Contribute to the compiling of funder narrative reports
  • Work from a culturally-sensitive, strength-based framework to support client outcomes
Qualifications and Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work (Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Psychological Services), or similar field, Diploma of Community Services or significant experience within a refugee settlement environment
  • Fully unrestricted Victorian driver's license
  • Demonstrated experience working with newly arrived communities, including a clear understanding of the needs of individuals/communities, and the services and resources available to them
  • Relevant case work experience, preferably to clients from multicultural backgrounds in settlement, community health or related area
