The Budget Division operates at the intersection of finance, economics, and policy to advise the Government on the strategy and delivery of the State Budget, including financial projections, risks, and opportunities. The Division collaborates with a broad stakeholder network across Treasury, the Premier's Department, and the Cabinet Office. The Budget Strategy and Coordination team coordinates and manages the annual NSW Budget and Half-Yearly Review, providing strategic policy advice and working with other branches and teams to deliver high-quality budget products, improve processes, and support communication forums.

As an Advisor, you will assist in providing high quality advice, support projects, conduct research, and analyse information to support policy development and budget processes.

Your main tasks include working with others in Treasury to coordinate the delivery of Budget Papers and other Budget related products, assisting in the coordination of the annual Budget and Half-Yearly Review process, and improving processes to ensure best practices. You will also support internal communication on budget issues by organising meetings, issuing agendas, and taking minutes.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

·       Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated professional experience in accounting, finance, law, economics, data science, public policy or in a related discipline.

·       Previous work experience in policy, research, accounting, finance or other related disciplines.

·       Ability to communicate policy analysis and advice clearly and effectively (verbally and in writing).

·       Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and manage sensitive stakeholder relationships.

·       Experience in undertaking research and drafting briefing materials for Executive and Ministerial Offices highly regarded.
