You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under 'your key responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:


•    Demonstrated understanding of clinical microbiology principles, including specimen processing, culture techniques, pathogen identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods.

•    Ability to follow established laboratory protocols and quality control procedures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and safety in all testing activities, consistent with NATA/RCPA standards.

•    Knowledge of laboratory information systems, with a commitment to maintaining data integrity and confidentiality. 

•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors in a clinical setting.

•    The position is currently a shift position requiring the successful applicant to work weekends, public holidays, shift work, and out of hours on call work. In the future the position may change to a continuous shift position requiring the successful applicant to participate in a 24-hour rostering system covering day, evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
