About the Role
We are seeking a Centre Cook who also supports in the classroom. This is a unique hybrid role perfect for someone who enjoys cooking and working with children. You'll be responsible for planning and preparing healthy, allergy-aware meals for children aged 0–6, and also support our team by covering educator breaks and running fun, educational cooking experiences with the children.
Our licensed kitchen is well-equipped and centrally located in the centre, making it easy for you to interact with both educators and families daily.
Your Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nutritious morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea in line with dietary and allergy requirements
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards and ensure compliance with all regulations
- Order and manage kitchen stock
- Support educators during breaks across both rooms (0–3 and 3–6 age groups)
- Lead occasional cooking experiences and food-related learning with children
- Build strong relationships with children, families, and the team
- Ensure the kitchen and food prep areas remain clean, safe, and inviting
Who You Are
- Hold or are willing to obtain a Cert III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care
- Have previous experience working in a kitchen or cooking for children
- Hold a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Bright, energetic, and proactive with strong time management skills
- Genuinely love children and are open to growing your role in early learning
- Hold or are willing to obtain First Aid, Anaphylaxis, and CPR certificates
- A collaborative team member who values quality care and education
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $27.00 – $30.00 per hour
