The Associate Vice President/Vice President will be an integral member of TAG's Australia & Defence and National Security Practices. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our growing portfolio of defense clients. The position will support the Australia Country Executive in close coordination with the US-based Defense and National Security Practice. The successful candidate will lead daily operations, communications, governance and industry engagement with a focus on crafting and leading market access and expansion campaigns, enhancing brand equity, and offering creative solutions.
Our ideal candidate will bring contemporary professional experience in the defense sector, preferably in both business or government, and must possess a strong grasp of Australia's Naval and AUKUS-related defense industry, its defense capability and sustainment landscapes and processes, as well as the ability to convert this knowledge into actionable outcomes and recommendations for key clients.
Priority will be given to those applicants with demonstrated successful major procurement support, client and project management and business development proficiency with significant stakeholder engagement experience.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage day-to-day defense client workstreams, including development of written and oral analysis and substantive briefings for TAG leadership and clients
- Coordinate and manage TAG communications and liaison with key clients
- Support the Australia team with day-to-day management and operational duties including managing client servicing, risk analysis, and corporate strategy development and implementation
- Manage, plan, and execute client engagements and activities in Australia, including events and senior level visits
- Execute contract targets including through partnerships to deliver and grow our clients' Australian operations
- Support key stakeholder and key leader engagements in Australia and develop partnership and stakeholder profiles and relationship management strategies
- Cultivate and maintain a robust network of relevant stakeholder relationships in Australia and across industry and government stakeholders relevant to client needs
- Monitor political developments, develop a strong network with key industry stakeholders in business and government
- Monitor, advise, coordinate and execute on tender opportunities from Commonwealth and State governments
- May be assigned other special projects or duties according to business needs.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (e.g. MA/MBA/MPP) and 10 plus years' relevant work experience;
- Experience in the defense industry, public sector, government relations, consulting, or comparable experience, demonstrating the ability to work in an independent and self-reliant manner
- Strong communicator, demonstrated by the ability to present in a polished and effective manner to senior business executives and other senior level interlocutors in multinational settings
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian national security and defense industry, Australian defense policy, and its regulatory environment
- Experience in client servicing, project management and autonomous execution
- Team player with positive, proactive, and professional attitude; eager for professional development and open to learning
- Flexibility with respect to working and communication hours, particularly when coordinating with clients and team members in Washington D.C. as well as other TAG offices in the region
