At Jetstar, the Digital Scrum Master is essential in setting our distributed digital squads up for success. You will work with cross-functional squad leads to empower the squads to deliver in a sustainable and agile way.
To be successful in this role, you will collaborate with the wider scrum practice, to support ways of working and collaboration across domains.
The core responsibilities of this role will be:
Daily squad activities
- Accountable for facilitation and outcomes of Scrum ceremonies including Stand-up, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review and Retrospective.
- Support and facilitating continuous agile planning activities for the squad.
- Removing blockers for the team to support effective flow and throughput.
- Facilitate identification and management of squad and Digital/organisational risks and issues and dependencies.
- Managing the teams release/sprint backlog, scrum/task board, ensuring information radiators are accessible and up to date.
- Facilitating and advising on estimation practices.
Delivery management
- Creating and managing evidence-based metrics, burn up charts and any other required reporting.
- Coach and guide squad to continually improve delivery.
Build great squads and servant leadership
- Assess and report on Scrum maturity of the team. Identifying any disfunctions or interventions required to create and implement an improvement plan.
- Facilitate discussion, decision making and conflict resolution to achieve desired outcomes and maintain positive team dynamics.
- Facilitate learning and development within your squad through individual and team coaching.
- Coach individuals, squads, and stakeholders to improve adherence to agile principles and in the practice of Scrum.
Contribution to Digital and scrum practice
- Facilitate Jetstar Digital ceremonies such as quarterly planning, Scrum of Scrums, and All-Digital Stand Up.
- Actively participate in regular team resource planning to ensure your squad has the skills it needs to deliver.
- Participate and contribute to Scrum Practice activities, such as Live and Learn, pairing and observing, or any initiatives as part of ongoing improvements.
To be considered, key skills will include:
- 3-5+ years working in software delivery; with 2+ years of those as a Scrum Master
- Practical experience in Scrum, and exposure to other tools and frameworks e.g. Kanban, Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe)
- Proficient in using Jira for squad management and Miro or other visual management tools.
- Advanced facilitator and great communicator with negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Build strong relationships with squad members. Create a positive and engaging environment.
- Build stakeholder relationships to support increased communication, flow of information, and collaboration.
