About Us:

Quantum-Systems is at the forefront of autonomous, AI-powered aerial robotics globally. Our Australian subsidiary, Quantum-Systems Australia, operates in the Defence, Security, and Commercial markets, specialising in Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAS) in the Asia-Pacific region.

Summary:

The role is accountable for designing and documenting system interfaces and architecture, managing build systems and release pipelines, and coordinating across teams and suppliers. It encompasses the full lifecycle of software and system support, including systematic analysis, risk assessment, testing at all levels, and fault investigation during development, production, and in-service operations.

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining existing, as well as creating new Linux applications on the unmanned aircraft.
• Designing and coordinating interfaces between teams, documenting the architecture and design decisions.
• Integration of hardware and 3rd-party software into the Linux system, aligning with suppliers and other teams.
• Testing of existing and new applications. This includes writing unit tests, integration tests, functional tests, and acceptance tests.
• Analysing logs from both test flights as well as real-world customer issues.
• Fault finding and issue tracking in production and maintenance.
• Conduct systematic analysis and risk assessment, implementing strategies to mitigate potential obstacles and ensure success. 

Qualifications & Experience:

Required

• Tertiary degree in Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in embedded software development, preferably in robotics.
• Australian Citizenship and ability to hold a Security Clearance.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++.
• Familiarity with scripting languages: Bash & Python.
• Solid understanding of Linux commands (e.g. grep, telnet, tcpdump).
• Hands-on experience with debugging tools (e.g., GDB, strace, perf) and log analysis.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and release management.
• Experience with CMAKE and an understanding of compilation.
• Basic knowledge of communication protocols (UDP/TCP, MAVLink CAN Bus, Serial, Ethernet).

Desired

• Familiarity with middleware and interface standards such as DDS.
• Knowledge of containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker) and virtualisation.
• Passion for Drones.
