About The Job
The Mental Health Clinician is part of our multidisciplinary approach to mental health care for young people. The incumbent is responsible for providing mental health intervention to young people aged 12-25 accessing headspace for support through our Targeted Psychological Support (TPS) service stream.
Reporting To The Clinical Services Manager You Will
- Provide clinical psychological assessments and tailored interventions for young people, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic and coordinated care for each young person referred to headspace.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear and effective feedback to referrers, young people, and their families.
- Participate in regular clinical case review meetings and team meetings to support youth and family/carer participation in the service.
- Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of electronic medical records, completing all necessary documentation and reporting requirements, meeting HAPI service reporting standards.
Skills and experience
The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
Approved tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (such as psychology, social work, occupational therapy)
For psychologists, must have full general registration with AHPRA.
- Social workers must hold or be eligible for AASW Mental health accreditation.
Occupational Therapists must be registered with AHPRA, have Better Access endorsement or 2 years minimum experience in mental health to provide psychological services in the TPS stream.
Demonstrated competence in delivering mental health care to young people, including mental health and risk assessments, crisis intervention, safety planning, and evidence-based individual and group interventions for mental health and substance use concerns.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear feedback to young people, families, and external professionals.
- Strong understanding of common mental health and substance use issues in young people, alongside evidence-based treatment options such as CBT.
