About Us
Corrective Services NSW runs the state's correctional centres, supervises offenders in the community, and delivers programs to reduce reoffending, support reintegration and build safer communities.
The Balund-a Program sits within the works and education stream under reintegration. It is an innovative residential diversionary program for male offenders over 18 years of age.
Located near Tabulam on Wahlabul country, within the Bundjalung Nation. The program's aim is to reduce re-offending and enhance living and employment skills within a cultural and supportive community environment. The Aboriginal name, Bugilmah Burube Wullinje Balund-a translates as "Be good now you have a second chance down by the river".
About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Aboriginal Operations Manager that is a logical and strategic thinker with extensive people and operational management experience. The Operations Manager will be responsible for oversight of the purposeful day operations, particularly the effective management of the residents within the Balund-a Program. As part of this role the Operations Manager will develop and oversee the staff of the centre and ensure compliance with divisional objectives and legislative requirements.
This role is dedicated to improving outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
What you'll do
The duties and responsibilities of the Operations Manager will include, but not be limited to:
- Implementing, reviewing and participating in the development of policies, procedures and standards for the Balund-a Program in accordance with the Division's strategic priorities.
- Establishing and maintaining facility systems regarding the monitoring of workload allocations and workload outputs.
- Identifying and assisting in addressing any issue impacting on service deliveries.
- Identifying staff development needs and providing training as required.
- Maintain regular contact with the Balund-a manager on the full range of operational and administrative matters.
- Implementing processes to monitor and evaluate the quality of services and programs to ensure high quality delivery according to resident needs.
- Providing operational oversight on cultural matters and continually drive and maintain the cultural ethos to the operations of Balund-a that supports cultural connection for the residents participating in the program.
Experience required:
- Must demonstrate cultural capability which includes lived experience, knowledge and understanding of contemporary social issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including skills in identifying and/or responding to the diverse needs of Aboriginal people
- Robust hands-on approach with a high level of Operations Management experience
- Leading a multidisciplinary team and maintaining operational oversight.
- Be able to implement, review and participate in the development of policies, procedures and standards in accordance with the Division's strategic priorities.

- Current Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle for the purpose of the role
- Driver Licence LR - light rigid or willingness to undertake training within 6 months of employment
- Current first aid certificate or willingness to undertake training within 6 months of employment
