About us
We are a leading dog day care in Sydney, servicing the Inner West, Eastern Suburbs and South Sydney, with boarding and training services also offered. We have a large daycare premises with inside and outside space, and offer a home pick-up and drop-off service for all owners. We cater to dogs of all sizes, and place a large emphasis on dog training and socialisation, so you will need to be up for the challenge to develop your training and dog management skills. We work with dogs from all backgrounds: from puppies to rescues, shy and anxious to super high energy dogs, with the aim to safely integrate and socialise all dogs to improve and enrich their lives.
The Role
The role consists of a combination of dog handling and management plus van pick-ups and drop-offs. You will be required to drive our vans to collect dogs from owners' homes, and transport them safely to our venue, being courteous, considerate and pleasant to owners, as well as dropping dogs back in the late afternoon.
Once at the day care centre you will be responsible for supervising groups of dogs and keeping them all safe, engaged and entertained through the day, including cleaning up any mess and keeping the site clean and safe. The role does, of course, involve cuddling and playing with all of our delightful 'clients', however, we also work hard to ensure their days with us are enriched through activities and basic training exercises, while ultimately ensuring the groups are safe and well managed. No off-site walks are required – you will care for and play with dogs all day in our large secure, fenced centre with inside and outside spaces.
We are currently looking for both Part-Time and Full-time employees. Our Full-time role consists of a mixture of full day shifts which includes both the pick ups/drop offs and daytime dog handling which start and end at Alexandria (7am - 5.30pm), as well as shorter shifts that include the daytime dog handling role and no driving responsibilities (9am - 3.30pm) in Mortdale. Participation in a weekend roster to help with our rural boarding business west of Sydney is mandatory, but shifts are relatively infrequent (once per month on average). Opportunities for additional shifts as well as upskilling in training activities for greater remuneration is available for strong performers.
A little about you
For this role significant competence and confidence in driving is a prerequisite and you must, of course, love dogs but also demonstrate experience handling them. Please note, this role is not just about cuddling puppies (although it is an upside of the role) - it requires a lot of hard work, relatively long shifts including driving, cleaning and dog handling responsibilities each day, and constant vigilance is required as you will be working to manage groups of dogs of all sizes.
You need to be completely reliable, organised, mature, physically fit, hard-working, with good people skills, and ready to adapt to new situations as they arise.
If this sounds like the role for you, you'd like to know more, then don't hesitate to get in touch
