As a Deli / Kitchen Team Member your main role will focus on cooking BBQ Chickens and other items for the Hot Food display from 6.30am - 2pm. You may also need to provide attentive service to deli customers, fulfilling their requests for fresh meat, poultry and fish; cold meats and smallgoods; salads and antipasto; ready to eat meals and pastries. You'll keep displays fresh, beautiful and full, make product recommendations and offer tasters.

This role is initially casual, with the possible opportunity to become full-time a little later. Previous experience working in a deli is desirable, but not essential.

You will need:

  • A friendly attitude and good communication skills, to provide the attentive customer service Hill Street is known for.
  • To be comfortable handling meat and seafood (both cooked and uncooked)
  • A love of working with people (both colleagues and customers)
  • Energy, initiative and willingness to take direction.
  • The ability to follow company procedures and regulations, particularly regarding food handling and workplace health and safety.
  • Ongoing daytime availability 6.30 am pm on at least 3-4 days per week and every second weekend. Your standard roster will be agreed based on your availability and our operational requirements, with flexibility to suit your needs.
  • Physical fitness for lifting and standing.

Pay rates are set by the General Retail Industry Award. The base hourly pay rates for level 1 adults are:

Full time & part time

  • Weekdays $26.55
  • Saturday $33.19
  • Sunday $39.83

Casual

  • Weekdays $33.19
  • Saturday $39.83
  • Sunday $46.46

Additional penalty rates apply to public holidays and some overtime and early morning shifts.
