About the new-graduate role

We are holding interviews asap so please get your application in as soon as possible.

This role is a new part time or full time, community-based new-graduate physiotherapy employee position in Kellyville and surrounds in Sydney that will commence in 2026 as part of our new graduate program.

More info on our new graduate program here:

We are specifically looking to employ an enthusiastic new graduate physiotherapist.

The desirable applicant will be one who is looking for a well-developed physiotherapy program (10+ physios in the team) within a multidisciplinary team that includes a 5-year professional development plan (40hrs PD per year) and regular ongoing supervision with ample opportunity for learning.

The role will provide you with clinical support and professional development so that you are able to build a firm foundation of clinical practice from which to progress your professional career. You will receive 16-weeks onboarding training and support as well as on-the-job disability-specific clinical training.

Remuneration will be based on experience but will be paid well above award wage.

What can Active Ability offer a new graduate physiotherapist?

  1. Become an expert in disability – disability is our team's core focus and each of our team members have their own expertise.
  2. A focus on professional development (PD) – commence your 5-year PD program plus attend a minimum of 4 events annually with our entire team, additional in-services and an individual Professional Development plan focused on developing your expertise.
  3. Mentoring from Active Ability's senior physiotherapists – Mentorship and support from senior clinicians and directors through shadowing their caseload, case reviews, PD and skill development sessions that will broaden your skill set and experiences.
  4. An incredibly rewarding role – you will be a valued and important part of your client's life. You will build relationships with your clients and their stakeholders, and you will be rewarded when seeing them achieve their goals.
  5. The opportunity to manage a complex case load – your knowledge and skills will be challenged every day in order to support your clients safely and effectively to achieve their goals because of the barriers they unfortunately face due to their health, function and disability. Spinal Cord Injury, Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neuron Disease, Huntington's Disease, Cerebral Palsy and other rare neurological disorders are part of our daily caseloads.
  6. A changing client base – because we are a capacity building service, you will see significant variety day-to-day and week-to-week in your caseload (not to mention, our clients age from 2 years to 65 years old). The fact that we are a capacity building service means that we see client's only as much as necessary and then discharge – there are no maintenance services here
  7. An amazing team of like-minded clinicians - Join an amazing team culture, full of passion, drive and fun. We all have the same mission or focus that we work by - to support people with disability to achieve optimal independence, health and quality of life.
  8. The opportunity to engage in multidisciplinary collaboration– collaboration is crucial to the success of your intervention in disability – meet regularly with behaviour support therapists, speech therapists, OTs, support workers, support coordinators and GPs, not to mention dietitians and exercise physiologists. Expect a flexible work environment - we spend more time at work than anywhere else, so you need to love what you do (passion), and you need to work in a fabulous team that values your contribution. Work from home, manage your own diary (attend appointments if you need), work independently but seek support and assistance from management when you need it.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • The successful applicant will provide mobile physiotherapy services to Active Ability's clients in Sydney.
  • Assess and treat clients in their own home, to carry out rehabilitation programs to improve functional independence and quality of life
  • Provide face to face and occasional tele-support to clients in community settings. Specifically, hydrotherapy, land-based, in the home or in the community, group homes, day programs
  • Provide equipment prescription and complete assistive technology applications
  • Providing exercise & behaviour change advice to clients living with disability or chronic/complex conditions
