Student Support and Wellbeing Services (SWSS)
This is a full-time fixed term position through to December 2027 with salary in the range $115,645 - $129,654 (HEW 8), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.
Senior clinical leadership role in a genuinely student-centred, values-driven team, providing advanced supervision to a multidisciplinary practice.
You will have direct autonomy and influence to shape best practice in accessibility and mental health within a leading Australian university.
Based at our St Lucia campus
We are seeking a Senior Clinician to provide advanced clinical leadership and supervision to our multidisciplinary accessibility and welfare team. This pivotal role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services that remove barriers to access, promote equitable participation, and enhance student well-being and academic success. You will be responsible for staff clinical development, risk oversight for complex student presentations, and contributing to the strategic evolution of inclusive support services.
Key responsibilities will include:
Clinical Supervision and Practice Leadership
Provide clinical supervision to a multidisciplinary team (e.g., counsellors, psychologists, social workers), ensuring high standards of practice that support safe, ethical, and inclusive services. Foster a reflective, student-centred, and strength-based practice culture focused on continuous learning and accountability.
Risk Management and Expert Guidance
Provide expert guidance and advice on complex student matters where risk is identified (e.g., severe mental health concerns, disability-related barriers, welfare risks). You will support the team with collaborative planning, risk assessment, and coordination of supports.
Training, Policy, and Program Development
Lead and support the delivery of workshops, projects, and psychoeducational programs. Critically evaluate, review, and draft service policies and frameworks, and develop and deliver training for university staff to increase competence in addressing accessibility and support needs.
Inclusive Environment and Program Evaluation
Collaborate with academic and professional staff to create inclusive learning environments and remove systemic barriers to student success. You will also supervise postgraduate placement students and contribute to ongoing service evaluation and reporting to inform best practice and identify opportunities for improvement.
You possess tertiary qualifications and professional registration (AHPRA registered psychologist, AASW accredited social worker, or equivalent) in psychology, social work, counselling, or a related field, with accredited supervisor status or equivalent senior experience. You have extensive experience providing evidence-based interventions and case management for students with complex mental health, disability, or welfare concerns.
Proven ability to provide group and individual clinical supervision to multidisciplinary mental health professionals and/or placement students, focusing on reflective, ethical, and development-focused practice. This includes skills in designing and delivering inclusive workshops and programs related to wellbeing and accessibility.
Demonstrated understanding of disability and accessibility in higher education, including relevant legislation, inclusive practices, and the specific barriers experienced by students with disability, medical conditions, or neurodivergence.
Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with an ability to contribute to service development. You have a demonstrated ability to engage effectively and sensitively with diverse communities (including people with disability, LGBTQIA+, and CALD backgrounds), maintaining a commitment to ethical practice and professional growth.
You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
