Metro Tankers in Naval Base are proud to have built a strong reputation for all fuel carrier companies who require their vehicles to have SLP's to Safe Load Inspections, DG Bulk Container testing, repairs and maintenance. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Road Transport Mechanic with DG experience for our Naval Base site.

The primary role of the mechanic position is to inspect and maintain road tankers and refuelling equipment ensuring reliability and less down time to our valued customers.

Qualifications/Requirements we are seeking for this position:

  • Dangerous goods experience
  • A Minimum of 5+ years of heavy vehicle or truck mechanical experience is required for this role.
  • Perform maintenance tasks and inspections with on highway fuel tankers
  • Perform breakdowns [all hours] to keep customers on the road
  • Work as part of a small, supportive team and initiative to work autonomously if required
  • Possess a commitment to working safely
  • Posses a current Australian drivers' licence
  • Pass a pre-employment medical
  • Australian work rights are required for this position.

Metro Tankers operate 24/7 and although this is generally a Monday to Friday role, there is room for flexible working hours and days to repair equipment.
