What you will need:

• Certificate III in ESI – Power Systems - Distribution Overhead or Australian equivalent.
• Construction Industry White Card.
• High Risk Licences (Elevating Work Platform, Dogging and Rigging).
• Line Worker Registration (Orange Card)
• A current MR or HR Drivers Licence.
• Current VESI Skills passport with up-to-date training is advantageous.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Attend pre-employment medical including a drug and alcohol test.

As a Lineworker, you will be responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electricity distribution networks across Victoria, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Distribution & Construction – Key Responsibilities

• Working on high and low voltage overhead and underground systems.
• Setting up new poles, transformers, conductors, and other power equipment.
• Restoring power efficiently after outages caused by storms, equipment failure, or damage.
• Performing maintenance on energised lines using specialised tools and techniques.
• Interpreting schematics to plan and execute work effectively.
• Using bucket trucks, elevated work platforms, and cranes for installations and repairs.
• Working with engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to ensure smooth power distribution.

Public Lighting - Key Responsibilities:

• Setting up new streetlights and replacing outdated ones with energy-efficient LED systems.
• Inspecting and servicing lighting infrastructure to ensure proper function.
• Swapping out faulty lamps, wiring, and electrical components as needed.
• Troubleshooting and repairing issues such as flickering lights or complete failures.
• Operating elevated work platforms, bucket trucks, and hand tools.
• Coordinating with local councils, contractors, and residents to ensure efficient service.

Metering & Servicing – Key Responsibilities

• Setting up new meters and servicing existing meters to ensure accurate readings.
• Checking meters for faults, tampering, or inefficiencies to maintain system integrity.
• Addressing customer concerns, troubleshooting meter issues, and restoring service when required.
• Working with network operators, technicians, and customers to ensure seamless electrical servicing.
• Handling new connections, upgrades, and deactivations as needed.
• Communicating effectively with customers, ensuring a smooth and professional experience.
