We are seeking a Governance Officer for an immediate start on a 3–6 month contract. This role will support a range of governance activities who can work independently with strong knowledge of government governance requirements.
About the Company:
This government organisation plays a vital role in delivering outcomes that contribute to the state's strategic priorities. They are committed to excellence in governance, compliance, and transparency while supporting a collaborative and professional workplace culture.
Role Overview:
Reporting to senior leadership, this role will provide expertise and support across a broad range of governance activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing key frameworks, implementing governance actions, and ensuring policies and procedures are up-to-date and aligned with best practice.
About the Person:
We are looking for someone who thrives in a government environment, brings initiative, and can confidently work under limited direction. The ideal candidate will have strong governance knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality advice and outputs independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake a review of gifts and benefits policies
- Conduct annual review of fraud and corruption control frameworks and prepare reports for leadership
- Develop and refine grant management framework documentation
- Implement actions from the Business Continuity Plan
- Provide advice and recommendations on governance, regulatory, and compliance matters
- Undertake research and analysis to support decision-making
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience researching and advising on governance matters within a government context
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating governance, regulatory, and compliance programs
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and ability to interpret complex information
- Proven ability to work under broad direction, independently, and exercise sound judgment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to prepare accurate reports and documentation
