Job Title: Coach/Assistant Coach - UNSW Cheer & Dance Society

UNSW Cheer & Dance is a student-run university society, competing in intervarsity AASCF competitions across Cheer, Pom, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. We are also excited to be expanding with our newly introduced non-competitive Sidelines team which will perform at university sports events.

The UNSW Cheer and Dance Society is run through and is managed by the student-run Executive Team. We're a supportive, values-driven community that emphasises teamwork and performance excellence.

We are currently recruiting for the following positions, for commencement in February 2026:

  • Open Jazz
  • Open Contemporary
  • Open Hip Hop
  • Open Pom
  • Prem Pom
  • Premier Pom
  • Premier Hip Hop
  • Premier Jazz
  • Premier Contemporary
  • Cheer Level 1/2
  • Cheer Level 3/4
  • Sideline Cheer/Dance

Location: We train for Dance in Alexandria and Cheer in Marrickville (this is subject to change pending studio availability for 2026).

Role Overview:

  • Coaches/assistant coaches are responsible for choreographing an original routine approximately 2-minutes in length for the team.
  • Coaches/assistant coaches are responsible for taking a weekly 1-2 hour training session for each team (NB: Level 3/4 cheer trains twice per week).
  • Coaches/assistant coaches are expected to attend all competitions, including the annual Nationals Competition which will take place in the Gold Coast in 2026.

About You:

We're seeking coaches who are experienced in, or familiar with, AASCF styles and scoring systems. Ideal applicants will demonstrate strong technical expertise and a coaching approach grounded in mutual respect, suited to working with adult teams. Cheer coaches and assistant coaches will possess/or be willing to obtain the relevant certifications for the given level.
