THE POSITION
Moreton Bay Boys' College is seeking a Teacher Librarian to lead our College Library and support our vibrant learning community.
The position will play a key role in the development of information literacy and involves the leadership and management of the library services of the College and to provide an efficient and effective service to students and staff.
Depending on the successful applicant, the role will be 0.6FTE or there may be the possibility to teach a small teaching load, in English.
All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos and Ethical Statement of this Uniting Church day school for boys from P-12.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Educational Responsibilities
- Advocate and promote inquiry and resource-based learning into educational programs for all students.
- Ensure that these are continuously evaluated and modified to meet changing student and curricular needs and to take advantage of current technological developments in information retrieval.
- Initiate and support the co-operative development of an information skills continuum at a school level across the curriculum.
- Develop and implement an integrated program of literature promotion and enhancement.
- Ensure that the libraries provide an environment which is aesthetically pleasing, efficient and practical.
- Be willing to work within/learn about the pedagogical framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years programme.
- Building college capacity in current and adaptive use of new and emerging research practices that are connected with the digital information behaviour of young people for future organisational capacity.
- Develop teachers' and students' understandings and experiences with the latest developments in technology to ensure the college is offering the best possible online services and resource-based learning experiences for employees and students.
- Coordinate and promote annual Book Week events and activities.
2. Resource Management
- Responsible for the organisation, operation and services of the College Library.
- Provide effective supervision of facilities and resources.
- Supervise the selection and acquisition of appropriate resource.
- Managing the College's book hire scheme, which includes the provision of hard copy and digital textbooks and online subscriptions.
- Ensure the provision and maintenance of effective retrieval and circulation facilities for all members of the College community.
- Provide for the acquisition and cataloguing of resources held in other school collections.
- Co-operate with other schools, public libraries and information agencies to ensure economical provision of resources.
- Supervise the performance of Library personnel and encourage and co-ordinate parent volunteer helpers.
- Submit estimates for the financial requirements of the College library and control expenditure of the library budget.
3. Educational Leadership
- Participate in the determination of educational goals, policies and programs for the College.
- Ensure the development and updating of adequate policies relating to library services.
- Advocate for inquiry and resource-based learning programs, policies and procedures within a collegial atmosphere.
- Promote the effective use of electronic information services within the College community.
- Ensure that the facilities and services of the library are familiar to teachers and students.
- Be knowledgeable of current learning and teaching strategies, curricula development and learning technology.
- Ensure that library employees and teachers are kept up to date with research and developments in their field of interest.
- Ensure that library employees have the opportunity to participate in a range of in-service training activities.
- Seek opportunities for personal growth in areas of education, school librarianship and children's literature.
- Work with outside agencies and professional associations to further understanding of the concept of resource-based learning.
- Actively contribute to a safety citizenship culture upholding the health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices.
Other Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include involvement in interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning and assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- The College offers a very broad program in sporting, musical and pastoral activities which are designed to enhance the holistic development of the students. Staff are expected to participate in the co-curricular program of the College. By participating in the College's co-curricular program it is recognised that a teacher is contributing to the mission and ethos of the College.
5. Skills and Abilities The Teacher Librarian should:

- Have excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- A recognised teaching qualification and post graduate qualifications in Teacher Librarianship, with strong Teacher Librarianship experience.
- Eligibility for membership of Australian School Library Association (ASLA) and Australia Library and Information Association (ALIA).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must be registered or be eligible for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
ONDITIONS AND SALARY
- This is a fixed term for 12 months, commencing at the beginning of 2026. Salary in line with the Moreton Bay Boy's College Enterprise Agreement.
- Sick Leave entitlement of 10 days annually.
- Long Service Leave entitlement of 1.3 weeks for each year of service, which can be taken after 7 years.
- The College contributes superannuation in accordance with the Moreton Bay Enterprise Agreement.
