About the role
As a Journalist at Star News Group, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality content that informs and engages our local community. Working in our Warwick, QLD office, you will research, write, and edit compelling stories across a range of subjects, from breaking news to feature pieces. This full-time role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our respected regional news organisation.
What you'll be doing
- Researching and investigating news stories within your local community
- Conducting interviews and gathering information from a variety of sources
- Writing clear, accurate, and engaging news articles and feature pieces
- Editing and proofreading content to ensure it meets our high standards
- Collaborating with the editorial team to develop and execute content strategies
- Meeting tight deadlines and adapting quickly to changing news priorities
- Maintaining a social media presence to promote your work
What we're looking for
- Relevant degree or qualification in journalism, communications, or a related field, including soon or recently graduated applicants.
- Demonstrated experience in news reporting and feature writing
- Strong research, interviewing, and fact-checking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Familiarity with the local community and regional news landscape
- Proficiency in using content management systems and social media platforms
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
