Site Supervisor – Tree Management

So, what duties can you expect to do?

• Use geospatial applications to document changes to the tree and understory plant database over time
• Export and import data using basic coding skills
• Develop and implement tree maintenance programs, including tree health monitoring and elm leaf beetle management
• Organise tree works with subcontractors, prioritised according to risk and maintenance needs
• Identify and map new tree planting locations and recommend suitable species (in consultation with university representatives)
• Liaise with clients to discuss approval of recommended tree works, considering requests and hazard management
• Prepare detailed scopes of works for subcontractors, including machinery requirements
• Attend weekly meetings with the Account Manager & Sustainability Officer to review progress and projects
• Attend fortnightly meetings with the Account Manager & Grounds Manager to discuss issues, requests, projects, and maintenance outcomes
• Coordinate site-specific needs and larger projects requiring quotes and additional materials
• Assist the Account Manager with monthly and quarterly reporting (attendance mandatory)
• Supervise horticultural staff (including apprentices) and collaborate with Turf Team Leaders
• Assist with tree planting projects and plant trees according to best-practice management
• Perform ground-based tree works, including pruning in line with best practice tree management techniques

What will you need?

• High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards
• Excellent record-keeping and documentation skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, particularly Excel and Word
• Experience with geospatial software, particularly ArcGIS and Konect (Desirable)
• Minimum Certificate III or IV in Horticulture, Arboriculture, Landscaping, Landscape Management, or Environmental Science (preferred)
• Alternatively, at least 5 years' experience in a relevant field, particularly within high-profile open space landscapes
• Practical decision-making and problem-solving skills, with flexibility and contingency planning
• Excellent time management, including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects
• Current Driver's Licence – Manual or Automatic
• Working With Children Check
• White Card
• Strong and extensive experience in a position of leadership over a team of 5+
