Grounds Keeper

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Casual Groundskeeper to join our team at a Murray Veterinary Services Equine Hospital and breeding center located in West Coolup WA. The role entails maintaining a clean, safe, and visually appealing environment that supports the wellbeing of horses, clients, and veterinary staff. This includes both general landscaping and minor maintenance duties, with occasional support around animal facilities (non-clinical).

Key Responsibilities:

• Mow lawns, whipper snip, trim hedges, and maintain landscaping around the facility
• Clear paddocks, arenas, and walking tracks of debris, sticks and waste
• Repair and maintain fences, gates, and pasture infrastructure
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining stables, yards, and wash bays
• Ensure walkways and workspaces are safe and tidy at all times
• Perform minor repairs on tools, equipment, and buildings as needed
• Support staff during breeding season with setup and movement of equipment
• Maintain water troughs, drainage areas, and irrigation systems
• Collaborating with veterinary and stable staff for safe movement and handling zones
• Supporting seasonal tasks (e.g., leaf and stick removal, weed management, irrigation and fire safety prep)
• Managing waste disposal, including manure and green waste

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or farm maintenance
• Familiarity with equine environments and comfortable working around horses
• Ability to safely use machinery (e.g., ride-on mower, whipper snipper, pressure washer)
• Basic knowledge of fencing and general repairs
• Physically fit and capable of manual labor in all weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and self-motivation
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Must have own reliable transport and current driver's license

Hours & Pay:

• Casual, 2–3 days per week (flexible schedule) mornings preferred
• $35 per hour
• No weekend or public holiday shifts required
