Job Title: Stud Stablehand

Location: Gooree Park Stud Pty Ltd, 1544 Castlereagh Hwy, Galambine - Mudgee – Central West NSW

Full Time – Ongoing - Hours of work generally Monday to Friday however the applicant must be able to commit to extensive hours during the season.

About Gooree: Gooree is a mixed farming and agritourism operations, breeding thoroughbred horses, standing Stallions, thoroughbred spelling and agistment, crafting premium wines, producing world-class Wagyu beef, and curating exceptional farm stays and tours

We are looking for an additional team member who is motivated, dynamic and highly experienced in horsemanship to join our small team at Gooree Park.

The successful applicant will be working within the thoroughbred stud close knit team in the day-to-day management of thoroughbreds. Duties will involve handling weanlings, yearling sales preparation, mare foaling and stallion serves.

The Role

As an energetic member of the Thoroughbred Stud Team, your duties will be varied and seasonal.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Working as part of a team

· A genuine passion for working with thoroughbreds

· Understanding of equine behaviour, and the ability to handle them safely and effectively.

· All aspects of livestock and animal husbandry duties including (but not limited to);

o Handling young thoroughbreds, mares and stallions

o Caring, feeding, grooming, and administering treatments with precision

o General stable and yard duties to maintain the highest standards of equine well-being

· General farm duties including (but not limited to);

o Carrying out basic paddock, yard and stable maintenance and other tasks as instructed by your supervisor and/or manager

· Adhere to all Company procedures and Work Safety requirements

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

· Proven expertise in horse handling and a sincere devotion for the well-being of thoroughbreds

· Minimum 5+ years proven experience in horse handling with thoroughbreds or similar breeds

· Current Australian driver's licence (manual transmission preferred for farm vehicle operation)

· Physical fitness and ability to lift up to 25kg, work outdoors in all weather conditions

· A collaborative spirit, enjoying the synergy of working within a small team environment

Desirable:

· HR or HC truck license

· Experience assisting veterinarians and farriers with horse treatments and procedures
