Senior Architect

Our client is a nationwide provider of specialist design, construction and fit out solutions to a highly profitable market in Australia. They have a track record of successfully completing projects nationwide and continue to reinforce their position as a design and market leader in their field. They have a talented and well-established internal design team of eight based across two locations in Victoria, creating fantastic workplaces for clients across Australia.

Due to a sustained increase in the number of projects as well as a strategic focus on expanding into new markets,
we have been exclusively engaged to recruit a creative and commercial Senior Architect / Design Manager to join the Melbourne team and take responsibility for the entire design process for clients
. This is a full time, permanent role and there is substantial opportunity for growth within the business by developing the Melbourne office's capabilities as it continues to grow, as well as ensuring quality output. There will also be hands on management of your own client projects creating modern, creative designs for clients.

Specific duties will involve.

• Manage and coordinate the Melbourne office team and projects. Ensure accuracy and quality of project designs and outputs for the internal construction team.
• Provide architectural designs for construction and fit-out projects across Australia. Manage projects across all stages from concept design to full documentation.
• Improve overall design quality of projects to create stylish and functional workspaces.
• Prepare and oversee work to a high standard and adhere to all required Australian regulations e.g. NCC, Green Star and Disability Access.
• Internal and external concept development, including architectural plans, floor plans and associated services, again with a focus on quality design.
• Using revit.
• Maintain and develop client relationships. Coordinate and attend client meetings. Present documentation packages for client review.
• Integrate the work of external consultants, engineers and project managers. Prepare and submit detailed designs to local authorities.
• Mentor junior team members and experienced architects.

The business is well-established and has excellent prospects for the future. They operate in a relatively recession-proof market, have grown from 1 to 8 architects over the last 10 years and are now embarking on a new period of expansion and diversification, opening up new market opportunities. Working closely with a committed and passionate management team, there is plenty of scope to genuinely add design flair to interesting and challenging projects.

This is a key senior role in the business and as such
would most likely appeal to an architect with 8 years or more of quality architectural experience gained in Australia. The remuneration on offer will align with your experience but is expected to be in the region of $100K to $130K plus super and bonus.

To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate.

• Degree or higher tertiary education in architecture.
• 8+ years of quality architectural experience gained in Australia. Commercial architectural experience for retail, commercial, office, education or healthcare projects will be crucial.
• Able to demonstrate design flair across projects.
• Proven ability to work with the builder on design and construct projects. Strong technical capability to ensure projects are accurate and ready to be built.
• Advanced skills and experience with Revit.
• Sound understanding of relevant building codes and regulations in Australia.
• Prepared to commit to a full time senior role for the long term and travel for work and projects every week.
• Eligibility to work within Australia.

The role will be based at the Melbourne office close to Southern Cross station. There will be travel as required to client locations across Victoria/Australia as well as the second location in Geelong weekly.
