What's the opportunity?
As a Senior Data Engineer at Telstra Health you'll deliver scalable, secure, and intelligent data solutions that power Telstra Health's mission to improve healthcare through technology.
In this role, you'll leverage Snowflake and AWS cloud data services to build high-performing pipelines, optimise data platforms, and deliver insights at scale. Beyond engineering, you'll provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive innovation – embedding data as a true enabler of healthcare outcomes.
About the role:
- Deliver scalable, high-performing data solutions using Snowflake and modern ELT tools.
- Design and build secure, automated data pipelines that ensure accuracy, reliability, and speed.
- Optimise data models and platforms for performance, cost, and sustainability.
- Provide technical leadership in solution design, modelling, and pipeline engineering.
- Mentor and coach engineers, uplifting technical capability and agile practices.
- Champion data quality frameworks, testing, and observability practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional squads to align on data contracts and integration patterns.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to inform technical strategy and reduce technical debt.
About you:
- Proven expertise with Snowflake and strong experience in AWS cloud data services (e.g., Redshift, Glue, S3, Lambda).
- Strong programming skills in SQL and at least one of Python, Java, or TypeScript.
- Familiarity with modern web frameworks (React, Angular).
- Proven experience working in cross-functional, agile teams.
- Excellent technical communication skills with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring or coaching engineers.
- Strong track record of process improvement and innovation.
- Knowledge of health informatics standards (HL7, FHIR, SNOMED CT) is a plus.
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience is essential.
- Certifications in cloud, software development, or data/AI are desirable.
