We are currently seeking a Commissioning Lead to join our onshore team in Karratha on a 2:1 FIFO roster from Perth for 12 months. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of Australia's first industrial scale hydrogen developments - a landmark project that marks a major step forward in the country's renewable energy journey.
About the Role
The Commissioning Lead is responsible for the safe and effective execution of all commissioning activities for the onshore process plant. Reporting to the Site Manager, this role will oversee and coordinate multi-discipline commissioning across electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, piping, controls and process systems.
This is a pivotal leadership position, playing a key role in bringing a first-of-its-kind hydrogen facility to life - setting new benchmarks for innovation and sustainability within the Australian Energy sector.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate all commissioning activities, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule performance.
- Promote and drive a strong HSE culture and safe working behaviours across site teams.
- Define and implement commissioning strategies, plans, and logic flowcharts aligned with project milestones.
- Oversee commissioning readiness, including documentation, materials, resources, and permits.
- Manage completions, system handovers, and punch list closure.
- Liaise with engineering, construction, completions, and project controls to ensure seamless execution.
- Identify and mitigate risks, monitor progress, and provide accurate reporting.
- Support technical issue resolution during start-up and handover phases.
- Interface effectively between home office and site-based execution teams.
- Participate in client, vendor, and stakeholder meetings on commissioning-related matters.
About You
Qualifications
- Tertiary or relevant trade qualification in engineering or related discipline.
- Formal training in Project Management (PMP or equivalent) preferred.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 15 years' experience in oil & gas or energy projects, including at least 10 years in onshore construction and commissioning.
- Strong background in onshore construction and commissioning, with a preference for candidates with extensive Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) experience.
- Proven experience working within client operating facilities and permit-to-work systems.
- Skilled in completions management systems and project planning tools.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication, with strong stakeholder engagement abilities.
