Applications are sought from highly experienced individuals with a desire to enhance the well-being of the ACT community through economic regulation as the Senior Commissioner of the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission (ICRC).

The Commission is an independent statutory agency established under the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission Act 1997 (the ICRC Act) to promote effective competition in the interests of ACT consumers, while facilitating an appropriate balance between efficiency, environmental and social considerations.

The Senior Commissioner will be appointed on a part-time basis, for a period of up to five years to lead the Commission as it ensures fair prices for energy and water, upholding service level requirements and ensuring transparency in product and price offerings for Canberrans. They will also be appointed as a Standing Commissioner of the Commission.

You will lead the Commission, working with the Chief Executive Officer, to set the policies, priorities and strategies of the Commission, preside over investigations referred to the Commission under the ICRC Act and foster a culture that is ethical, transparent, accountable and consultative.

The appointment is made by the ACT Government Executive and is expected to commence from August 2025 subject to the successful applicant's availability.

The Senior Commissioner is entitled to the remuneration, allowances and other entitlements subject to determination by the ACT Remuneration Tribunal. The current determination is $1,925 per diem (ACT Remuneration Tribunal Determination 15 of 2024 Part-time Public Office Holders).
