About the role

Banksia Civil Hire is seeking an experienced Leading Hand - Civil Operator to join our dynamic team in Darwin, NT. As a Leading Hand, you will play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of our civil construction projects, ensuring efficient and high-quality work is delivered. This full-time position will see you working onsite, managing a team of skilled operators and labourers.

What you'll be doing

  • Supervising a team of civil construction workers, including operators and labourers

  • Planning & executing projects to industry standards

  • Coordinating daily work activities and delegating tasks to ensure project deadlines are met

  • Monitoring work quality and productivity, providing guidance and support to the team

  • Identifying and resolving any issues or bottlenecks that arise, escalating where necessary

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards and company policies

  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting on project progress

  • Providing feedback and recommendations for process improvements

What we're looking for

  • Extensive experience as a Leading Hand or Supervisor in the civil construction industry

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of civil construction workers

  • Extensive competency and experience in a range of equipment including 3D GPS & UTS products

  • Strong operational knowledge of civil construction equipment and techniques

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to workplace health and safety

  • Relevant construction industry certifications or qualifications
