  • Salary ranges from $139,823.00 to $154, super + leave loading
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate applied research on climate change adaptation, with a focus on the built environment.
  • Broker the science, integrating cross-disciplinary research to produce actionable, evidence-based solutions.
  • Provide actionable technical advice to senior leaders in across the NSW Government on climate adaptation strategies and policies.
  • Develop and manage large complex datasets to support climate risk and opportunity assessments, ensuring evidence supports effective adaptation actions.
  • Guide and mentor a team of 4 scientists, ensuring high standards and fostering a collaborative, innovative culture.
About YouYour experience includes:
  • Expertise in climate change adaptation with a focus on delivering applied, evidence-driven research.
  • High proficiency in using GIS, Python, Power BI, and/or AI to process and translate large datasets (e.g., NetCDF) into end-user datasets, online tools, and model inputs.
  • A strong publishing record, with published works that showcase your ability to collaborate with government and research institutions to create impactful research.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills, with experience guiding teams to produce high-quality research programs.
  • Established networks with key government departments, including local government, and the ability to influence decision-making at the highest levels.
  • Willing and able to travel within NSW and interstate, as needed (approx. quarterly).
Essential Requirements
  • Scientific degree in a relevant field and/or demonstrated experience developing and leading rigorous, discrete, science programs in a relevant scientific discipline.
