We are looking for a Nominated Supervisor (Specialist Childcare) to be a part of our Cape Kids Childcare Centre. This service provides a quality educational experience to young children to which encourages expression of their own ideas through play and learning. The centre is uniquely owned and operated by a global mining company.
Working a Monday-Friday full-time roster you will manage the day-to-day operations of assigned rooms, including providing leadership and support to educators and staff within your team. You will have support with the busy operations in our center with the Adviser Childcare.
The center has a capacity of 132 children across 6 rooms and provides a quality educational experience to young children which encourages expression of their own ideas through play-based learning. In this role you provide children with an enriching learning environment while you build a career that you are passionate about in an organization with a variety of pathways.
Reporting to the Manager Strategy & Town Services, you will:
- Provide leadership and management to educators and staff regarding all aspects of the operation of the service in line with relevant regulations, policies and procedures
- Liaise closely with and provide periodical reports to the Superintendent of Cape Kids regarding matters relating to the operation of the service
- Support educators and staff with professional training and mentoring to effectively manage the service, whilst providing feedback regarding performance on a regular systematic basis
About you
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Supervisor/ Director position in an Early Childhood Service or Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership position in an Early Childhood Service
- Proven ability in all areas of administrative procedure, curriculum development, parent and community liaison, staff professional development and training, team leadership and management of staff.
- Understanding and working knowledge of WHS legislation
- Demonstrated knowledge of service's requirements of the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) system and ability to perform software application for compliance
- Be willing to accept the role of Nominated Supervisor under the Education and Care Services National Law Application Bill 2010 and Education and Care Services National Regulations
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and/or My Time Our Place Framework, Education and Care Services National Law (2010), Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011), Family Assistance Law (Child Care Subsidy 2018)
- Previous experience in successfully managing a budget for an early education and care service
- Degree in Early Childhood from a recognised University (as listed on the approved qualification list by ACECQA), or:
- Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent)
- Current Provide an Emergency First Aid response in an Education and Care Setting qualification
- Current ACECQA approved Anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management training
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Accredited Child Protection Training

Weipa Operations
Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tons of bauxite.
Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforce-including 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.
The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
