We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader for Drainage Maintenance to join our organization in Coolaroo, Australia. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of maintenance professionals responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and upkeep of drainage systems in our area.
Ensure that Council's drainage system can operate as intended, through the management of a proactive cleaning program to an established frequency, as well as reactive cleaning and repair/maintenance of drains.
Management and supervision of drainage maintenance staff and contractors.
What you'll be doing:
- Coordinate the investigation of drainage related customer enquiries, including initial site investigations
- Manage contracts for cleaning, CCT inspection etc as required to enable resolutions of issues.
- Monitor and report on the status of drainage related requests.
- Identify complex drainage issues that need to be referred to the Civil Design Team for engineering input – e.g. where capacity of the existing drainage network needs to be assessed.
- Identify the most appropriate method to conduct a drainage investigation and resolve a drainage issue.
- Operate equipment to carry out drainage investigations.
- Provide leadership, supervision and support to staff, ensuring that work performance is monitored regularly, and that regular feedback on performance is provided in accordance with Council's approved performance management process.
- Identify training and development needs, recommend and/or implement appropriate training and development.
- Ensure adherence to relevant legislations. Policies and procedures including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures
- Maintain records of drainage investigations and repairs
- Conducts site audits to ensure drainage assets are reinstated in accordance with approved Infrastructure standards
- Liaise with utility companies/contractors to determine appropriate location for cabling/conduits within Council's Road reserves.
- Identify and rate risks related to drainage
The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:
- Ability to prioritise and organise activities for the efficient use of time and resources whilst providing prompt, effective and efficient drainage maintenance services and to achieve required objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct staff performance reviews, arrange training plans and manage the development needs of the team.
- Ability to implement personnel practices including those related to Equal Employment Opportunity, (EEO) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and the ability to provide guidance to contractors.
- Ability to gain cooperation and assistance from other staff, service authorities and the public.
- Ability to gain cooperation and liaise with other agencies as required.
- High level of interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work as part of a team and gain cooperation from customers and contractors from a wide range of backgrounds and language skills to effectively resolve conflict that may arise.
- Customer service, problem solving and influencing skills to deal appropriately with complaints, difficult people and/or situations.
Required Certifications & Qualifications
The following qualifications and experience are required for the position:
- Experience in road and drainage maintenance with lesser formal qualifications or Certificate of studies in engineering, drafting, surveying or a similar technical field with minimum 5 years practical experience.
- Experience in use of computers, in particular MS Word, Excel, asset management and/or maintenance management software, surveying instruments and other relevant software.
- Sound knowledge of Traffic Control within work zones.
- Experience and skills in reading and interpreting civil drawings.
- Current driver's licence HR
