Associate – Vice President, Equity Research

Background:

Our top-ranked Equity Research team produces alpha-creating, high-conviction content that leads investment debates across our global coverage universe. We are searching for someone to join our Banks Team, working alongside our Head of Research. The role will provide the individual with exposure to covered companies, our investing clients and various industry contacts, with the opportunity to add their own Financials stock coverage over time.

Responsibilities

  • Jefferies Research focuses on delivering high quality investment insights to investors on a global basis with a high emphasis on independence and objectivity in its products and insights
  • The unit produces regular written research, hosts investor meetings with company management teams, holds conference calls with industry consultants and regularly communicates with clients (both internal and external)
  • Modeling: Maintaining & updating existing company models; creating new models; maintaining relative value sheets
  • Research: Assist with the publication of earnings previews/recaps, initiation reports, deep dive notes as well other group products
  • Communication: assist with client inquires and requests (internal and external)
  • Events: attend/assist with meetings (management meeting & field trips) and conference calls with consultants
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and and safeguarding regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience
  • MBA or graduate degree and/or CFA preferred
  • Good knowledge of accounting and modelling
  • Excellent inter-personal and writing skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Relevant previous experience within equity research at a reputable buy or sell side organization, ideally covering Banks/Financials
  • Relevant previous experience at a professional services firm, covering valuation or corporate finance, will also be considered
