The Opportunity

To assist with our growth, we are looking for an energetic and passionate Food Technologist to join our Culinary Product Development Team.

You will be responsible for developing new, innovative, high-quality, safe products from research or customer requirements through to commercially viable outcomes.

We currently have an opening within our diverse, cross-functional R&D team. This role focuses on transforming concepts from the initial scoping phase to finished commercial products. The position requires adaptable technical development skills to translate customer needs into actionable items. We highly value candidates who can think outside the box and confidently lead teams through the challenges of product commercialisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Product development across wet sauce, retort and dry blending capabilities in line with customer briefs
• Product launch and commercialisation across multiple food manufacturing sites.
• Attending customer briefing sessions and responding to development projects
• Involvement in customer innovation and presentation sessions
• Conducting product sensory and/or raw materials (new and alternative) evaluation
• Researching authentic cuisine, as well as ingredient functionality, to be incorporated into product development
• Supervising first production runs of new products across our capabilities
• Value Engineering of existing products where required
• Analyse and troubleshoot any product issues which may arise in a timely fashion
• Manage multiple projects at any one time, and prioritise depending on business needs

What qualifications/experience will you need?

• Tertiary qualification in Food Science and Technology or relevant qualifications
• Proficiency in product development and commercialisation within a manufacturing environment
• Minimum of 2 years working in a 'hands-on' Product Development role
• Culinary/cookery and recipe development knowledge
• Technical understanding of functional ingredients
• Knowledge of up-to-date Food Legislation
• Good knowledge of Google Chrome, Sheets, Docs & Drive.
