Our company:

We are a small, family owned and operated company based in Bohle.  We mainly deliver ductile, PVC and PE100 pipe and associated fittings for Iplex Pipelines to plumbing and electrical stores and sites.  Our family has been delivering for Iplex Pipelines for 35 years.

The role:

We are currently seeking a casual truck driver with a HC minimum to do 1 to 4 trips per week for an immediate start.  The driver will be paid on a kilometre basis at the award rate dictated by the Road Transport (Long Distance Operations) Award.

Our standard delivery schedule is generally North to Cairns/Mossman/Tablelands on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and South to Cannonvale/Proserpine/Mackay on Wednesdays and occasionally West to Charters Towers on Mondays.

There can be up to 10 drops per load and the loads are usually loaded onto body trucks with pig trailers but can be loaded onto semi-trailers as well.  The loads are usually loaded the day before delivery by other staff members. Occasionally the driver would have to take the vehicle to our customer to be loaded prior to leaving same day (mainly for Charters Towers or Ayr loads).

The loads are usually loaded to deliver to the farthest location first and to do deliveries all the way back to Ingham/Ayr.  Some drivers leave the night before and sleep in the truck to accomplish this.  Others leave early in the morning (usually between 1AM and 5AM).

We also deliver extended (usually 20 or 21m PE100 pipe) semi-trailer loads to the Ayr region weekly, weather permitting.  These loads are usually loaded by other staff members.  A driver can usually deliver two loads per day.

We also deliver extended (usually 20 or 21m PE100 pipe) and non-extended semi-trailer loads and road-train loads to various other locations (generally within Queensland), but these loads can be sporadic.  These loads are sometimes loaded by other staff members and if not the driver would have to take the vehicle to our customer to be loaded prior to leaving the same day.  These trips are usually multi-day trips and require the driver to sleep in the truck.

I am after a HC minimum driver to do the Ayr loads mentioned above and to fill in wherever I am short drivers for my standard schedule (Cairns/Tablelands/etc.) outlined above and who would be available for the sporadic semi-trailer/road-train work to other various locations.

We have the following requirements:

  • HC licence minimum
  • Medical Certificate for Motor Vehicle Driver required
  • Use of a PDA to get digital signatures for POD (training provided if needed)
  • No licence suspensions in the last 5 years
  • BFM required (training provided if needed)
  • Construction induction preferred

To be successful for this role:

  • HC licence as a minimum with on road experience
  • Previous multi drop delivery driving experience is highly regarded but not necessary
  • Experience with extended loads is highly regarded but not necessary
  • Experience with completing national driver work diary daily sheet preferred but not necessary
