About the role

We are seeking mechanically minded individuals to perform a variety of operational functions for the production of Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF). The role will operate under the site EA on a 12-hour rotating 24/7 roster.

This is a full-time position working on a 7-day, 12hr rotating shift roster;

  • 4-week Rotating Shift Roster Cycle
  • Day shift; 7am – 7pm, Night; shift 7pm – 7am
  • 2 weekends off in every 4
  • Shift Allowance

Responsibilities include but not limited to:


• Set controls to feed, admit, apply or transfer materials and adhesives and to adjust temperature, pressure and time settings.


• Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and report or resolve problems.


• Observe gauges, meters and control panels to obtain information about equipment temperatures and pressures, or the speed of feeders or conveyors.


• Read work orders and communicate with co-workers to determine machine and equipment settings and adjustments and supply and product specifications.


• Maintain production records such as quantities, dimensions and thickness of materials processed.


• Examine and measure completed materials or products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices such as tape measures, gauges or callipers.


• Perform test production runs and make adjustments as necessary to ensure that completed products meet standards and specifications.


• Adjust machine components according to specifications such as widths, lengths and thickness of materials and amounts of adhesive required.

To be successful in the role:


• Have sound computer skills and experience in automated control systems, CNC/PLC equipment;


• Experienced in operating machinery;


• Be mechanically minded;


• You will have good communication skills;


• Be safety conscious, follow safety procedures and be mindful of workplace hazards for yourself and others;


• Be reliable and able to work on a rotating shift;


• Must undergo a pre-employment medical including drug testing;


• Experienced in the wood panel industry (advantageous).

Alpine MDF Industries is a leading wood processing facility based in Wangaratta, North East Victoria. We manufacture and distribute MDF products both nationally and internationally, providing stable employment for over 140 local workers.

Our primary focus is the production of Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF), widely used in the construction and related industries. In addition to our core manufacturing operations, we operate an on-site re-manufacturing facility, enhancing raw MDF into high-quality building products. These include pre-painted skirting boards, architraves, door and window components, and decorative wall lining panels.
