About Us
Greater Northern Community Services provides supports for adolescents and adults living with disabilities to reach their full potential. We work closely with our clients supporting them with daily self-care activities, attending appointments, community access with the focus on encouraging and promoting active, healthy and positive lifestyle choices.
The Role
We are looking for a reliable Support Worker/Cleaner for our female participant in Oakleigh. The role combines personal support with domestic cleaning. The participant has all cleaning equipment available on-site and requires someone who can cook as a compulsory requirement.
Primary Diagnosis: Blind
Supports Required:
- Assistance with meal preparation at home
- Transport to and from appointments as needed
Participant Goals:
- Get out of the house more often
- Create a veggie garden
- Build independence in the home
Participant Preferences (must strictly meet all):
- Must have cooking skills and confidence preparing meals
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Experience in both support work and domestic cleaning
- Comfortable following a set roster and maintaining consistency
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support in the home and community
- Assist with meal preparation and encourage independence in cooking
- Transport participant to appointments when required
- Support participant in achieving personal goals (e.g., creating a veggie garden, increasing community access)
- Vacuuming and mopping
- Dusting and organising linen
- Kitchen cleaning and tidying
- Build rapport and maintain a professional, respectful relationship
- Provide a safe and supportive environment
Work Hours:
- Monday: 3 hours – 10:00am to 1:00pm
- Wednesday: 3 hours – 10:00am to 1:00pm
- Friday: 2 hours Support Work + 3 hours Cleaning – 10:00am to 3:00pm
- Start Date: Friday 15 August 2025 (immediate start)

Remuneration
- You will be paid fortnightly.
- Rates will be competitive and based on experience and qualifications, in line with industry standards (+ Superannuation). Specific rates will be discussed with successful applicants.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must meet all participant preferences (see above)
- Relevant experience in disability, aged care, or individual support
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or similar (highly regarded)
- Willingness to accept shorter shifts as outlined
- Current Working with Children Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Valid First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009)
- National Police Check (within last 12 months)
- Full Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle
- Must have the right to work in Australia
- Ability to relate well to the participant and foster a positive, trusting connection
