Spray Seal Manager

Downer is seeking an experienced Spray Seal Manager to lead Metro operations based out of our depot in Pinkenba, QLD. This is a pivotal leadership role within our Queensland team, responsible for managing resources, driving operational excellence, fostering strong stakeholder relationships and identifying improvement efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead depot operations and manage annual budgets.
• Plan and coordinate resources to deliver high-quality spray seal projects.
• Build and maintain client relationships, identifying new business opportunities.
• Oversee financial performance, reporting, and forecasting.
• Provide strategic leadership across staff groups and major initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and promote a safety-first culture.
• Collaborate with internal departments (HR, IT, Finance) to ensure efficient support services.
• Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

About You:

• Minimum 10 years of spray seal experience or good knowledge of pavements and asphalt.
• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering preferable.
• Proven experience in senior management within spray seal, asphalt or civil works.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex civil construction projects.
• Sound financial acumen including budget development and forecasting.
• Knowledge of government contract management and operational best practices.
• Strong HR management, communication, and negotiation skills.
• High-level verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborative leadership style and commitment to professional ethics.
